A Day to Remember: Bunnings Display in Ballarat
Grey Skies, Warm Hearts
We rolled into Bunnings on a cold, overcast morning, but it didn’t dampen our enthusiasm! After connecting with the manager, we got Bubsie set up in her spot. No gazebo yet, though—we needed the parking space next to us free for now.
The Smiles Begin
And then the magic started! Glenda’s family joined us—her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter—and let me tell you, that little one’s smile was absolutely infectious.
Before long, people were streaming over to meet Bubsie, and suddenly we were all chatting away with visitors at once. The energy was incredible!
Musical Chairs with Bubsie
When the car in the next spot left, we seized our moment. We pushed Bubsie into her new position and got the gazebo up—much better! Throughout the afternoon, more wonderful people from our church dropped by to lend a hand, which was such a blessing.
Radio Waves and Warm Conversations
One of the highlights? A worker from Good News Radio Station stopped by! We were thrilled to tell her that so many people had mentioned hearing Kevin’s interview on air. It’s amazing how far those radio waves can travel.
Afternoon Surprises
When lunchtime came, we shuffled around in shifts so everyone could eat (we wanted to make sure there was always someone ready to welcome people and answer their questions!). The day had turned beautifully warmer by then, and we had an unexpected ally—the sausage sizzle next door! The mouthwatering smell drew people in, and once they spotted Bubsie, well, they just had to come over for a chat.
One conversation really touched our hearts—a lovely lady who’d worked in the outback shared how she’d heard Elders speak about two missionaries who’d introduced them to Jesus. These are the moments that remind you why we do what we do.
Wrapping Up a Perfect Day
As 4pm approached, we presented a copy of “Bubsie and the Boys” to the manager as a thank-you gift, then carefully packed Bubsie back into the trailer. We hugged our amazing helpers goodbye, hearts full and spirits high.
