Leaving Darwin with Grateful Hearts
After a truly blessed and fruitful time in Darwin, the ministry team set off with grateful hearts on the long, two-day journey toward the West Coast, carrying with them the message of health and hope for all they would meet along the way. They expected more of the barren, fire-scorched wilderness they’d grown used to – but the Victoria Highway had a far lovelier welcome in store. Mile after mile unfolded in quiet beauty: the shimmering Victoria River, and the mighty Kimberley Ranges rising up like silent witnesses, once again declaring the reality of the global flood. Towering above it all, the ever-present baobab trees (which are called baobs in Australia) never ceased to fill them with wonder at the Creator’s handiwork, and with fresh reminders of why a message of wholeness and healthy living matters so much.
Fellowship at the Fuel Stop
Some of the sweetest moments of ministry happen in the most unplanned places. At one of their regular fuel stops, the team crossed paths with a warm and friendly group of “Grey Nomads” touring Australia by motorcycle. Essie caught their attention right away, and it wasn’t long before happy conversation was flowing about the health message and the work of spreading it across the country. Copies of the Overlander were placed gladly into their hands, another small seed of health and hope sown along the road.
A Border Crossing, and Familiar Ground
Crossing from the Northern Territory into Western Australia brought a level of security that caught the team by surprise – so thorough it genuinely felt like entering another country altogether. Yet there was a quiet joy in it too, as they began passing through places they had read about in Nevil’s own travels: the storied Halls Creek and the equally memorable Fitzroy Crossing, now real and unfolding right before them, each one a gentle reminder of the journeys of those who had carried this same message of health and healing before them.
Warm Welcomes in Kununurra
Pulling into the gated compound at the Kununurra Hotel, the team once again found themselves warmly surrounded. Fellow guests gathered eagerly to admire Essie, and several left with their own copies of the Overlander in hand, keen to learn more about the health message it carried. In one especially tender moment, Kerry struck up a conversation with a lady passing by who was delighted by the imagery on the trailer. Through the gap in the security fence, Kerry gladly passed her an Overlander to take home – a simple exchange, but one carrying a message of health, hope, and eternal significance, and a lovely picture of how far a little kindness and a ready word can travel.
Leaving Kununurra, the team carried the beauty of the region with them still. Every ridge and river a fresh reminder of God’s faithfulness, and every open door along the way a quiet encouragement to keep sharing the message with all of Australia.
