Avondale Memorial Family Fun Day

Avondale Memorial Family Fun Day

The “Bubsie” trailer had a tech screw puncture a tyre on Saturday, so the first job on Sunday morning was to unload the trailer, change the damaged tyre and put on the spare.
We decided to drive Bubsie to the Avondale Memorial Fun Day event on the corner of University Drive instead of reloading the trailer and unloading it again around the corner.
Pieter and Veronica Raams, who are part of our RAA team, drove our car with the trailer to the event. After positioning Bubsie in the centre of the display of the vintage and classic cars, we put up the gazebo and resource table and were ready to roll with lots of people there early and ready to take part in the events of the day.
The car display, the jumping castle, Sweet Valley Baby Animals petting zoo, Sita’s Wood-fired pizzas, the Teen group and food van, the Lake Mac Zoo reptile show, and the Avondale Memorial Brass Band provided entertainment and food throughout the day. A variety of wooden puzzles kept both young and old well occupied, and Better Books and Foods was open for business.
Avondale Memorial had provided guests with a sample bag of their resources, which also included the Overlander book, Sanitarium UpnGo, and other brochures of local interest.
During the morning, Kevin presented segments of the story of Nevill’s journey with Bubsie. An interview with Paul Smythe was recorded as he shared how the Incredible Journey had come to locate the Citroen vehicle that was purchased from him and a little on the negotiation of the price. This was the first time that Paul had seen the vehicle since its restoration as a tribute vehicle to the original “Bubsie” held in the National Museum in Canberra.
It was a great community day, and Pastor Steve Magaitis was appreciative of all who contributed to and attended the event.
