Arrival and Setup
After a quick lunch, we headed off to the Adventist Aged Care Centre, ready for action! They positioned Bubsie right outside the main door in the parking lot—prime real estate for maximum impact. Kevin parked the trailer strategically out on the road, and we were all set for an adventure.
Residents Flock to See Bubsie
The magic began immediately! Staff were kept on their toes bringing a steady stream of residents out to see the car, and people couldn’t resist grabbing Overlander books and QR cards. One delighted lady’s face lit up when she received the book—she’d been meaning to order it during a free offer ages ago but life got in the way. “Perfect timing!” she exclaimed. It was exactly what she needed!

The Chaplain Spreads the Word
The chaplain came out with infectious enthusiasm, warmly greeting residents and making everyone feel like VIPs. People from the independent living units couldn’t resist the buzz and came flooding over to join the party. Then things really got lively! A group of ladies who’d just finished an intense card game came rushing over, buzzing with energy. Their excitement was so contagious that they practically dragged their friends along to see what all the fuss was about.

A True Explorer
One gentleman decided the best way to appreciate Bubsie was to see her from every possible angle! Down he went with torch blazing, ready to explore every detail underneath. The staff braced themselves, worried he might have taken a tumble, but their anxiety quickly melted into smiles when they realised he was simply driven by wonderful curiosity and youthful enthusiasm!

The Grand Finale
Then came the highlight: Gwen Harvey, our brilliant organiser, hopped in for an exclusive ride around the units in Bubsie! Word spread like wildfire, and suddenly everyone wanted a piece of the action. We were absolutely swamped with excitement! When it was time to pack up, the crowd gathered as Bubsie majestically drove into the trailer—it was like watching a grand finale, and the residents loved every second. We thanked all the incredible staff who’d worked so hard to make the day unforgettable, then headed home with huge smiles and hearts bursting with joy from this wonderful experience.
