Racing Against Storms at the Southern Hemisphere’s Biggest Agricultural Equipment Show
Dawn Warriors: 5am and Ready for AgQuip
We were up at 5am today and headed off to AgQuip – the largest annual agricultural equipment show in the southern hemisphere! At 3 degrees this morning, it felt positively tropical compared to yesterday’s bone-chilling -3°C. Who knew we’d be celebrating a 6-degree “heat wave”!
Bubsie Takes Center Stage
What a fantastic opportunity to show Bubsie and share our special story with the agricultural community. The response was absolutely incredible!
Numbers That Tell the Story
We talked to at least 1,200 people and gave away approximately 800 Overlander books throughout the day. It was exhaustingly busy but incredibly rewarding – every conversation reminded us why we’re on this journey.
Broadcasting Bubsie’s Story Across the Grounds
Gordon was interviewed by the show’s radio network host and was able to tell the captivating story of Nevill, Greg, and Bubsie over the loudspeaker system that reached every corner of the enormous showgrounds. Imagine thousands of people learning about our little car’s adventures while they wandered between tractors and harvesters!
A Race Against the Weather
The weather became our biggest concern as Bubsie sat exposed in the open with no cover whatsoever. Dark clouds gathered ominously throughout the day, growing more threatening by the hour. The tension was building – would we get Bubsie to safety in time?
Miraculous Timing
In what can only be described as miraculous timing, the rain held off just until Bubsie was safely loaded in the trailer and the door was firmly shut. Literally seconds later, the heavens opened and rain came pouring down!
Journey’s End: Sanctuary in Quirindi
After leaving the show behind, we faced over an hour’s drive to reach Quirindi where our gracious hosts were patiently waiting for us. What a relief to finally get settled and relaxed after such an incredibly full and eventful day!
Reflecting on an Epic Day
From dawn starts to dramatic weather, from big crowds to radio interviews – days like these remind us why every mile of this journey is worth it.
