Friday: 21 February – 7 pm – 9.30 pm

Avondale University – Fireside Teen Event

For our first event, over 100 teens from the Hunter region attended. A number of Avondale University students who had returned for 2025 and a few new students who were there for the weekend were ready for “Move-In Day” on Sunday.

Pr Kevin Amos spoke on the Challenge to “Go!”  He shared some of the Bubsie story with the teens with a powerpoint presentation.  Following the evening meeting, the teens had the opportunity to mingle, examine the “Bubsie” car and to ask questions.  Some of the young men enjoyed trying to crank the car to get the engine running.  A number of teens, who were students from Avondale School were excited to learn that it would be displayed at the school on next Friday.  One young lady was excited to tell her dad about the car and to invite him to see it at the Morisset Op shop on the following Sunday.

Parents, who came to pick up their teens also showed an interest in learning about the car and the Right Around Australia trip.  It was also lovely to have one of the University Theology students pray with one of the team members for the coming trip.

Sabbath: 22 February – 9.00 am – 1.00 pm

Avondale University Church “Bubsie Display”

The morning program included a short promo on the Right Around Australia event by Pr Kevin Amos, and Pr Norman Hurlow prayed a prayer of blessing on the team.  There were over 600 people in attendance, including new University students and their parents and the usual church attendees.  The Overlander sharing book was shared with those who had an interest in understanding more of the story and also a condensed version “God’s Rescue Plan” of the book that Nevill Westwood was selling – “Our Day in the Light of Prophecy and Providence.” QR code cards, which direct viewers to some of the TIJ programs, were given out.

The media staff from the Record conducted an extensive interview and took pictures with the team. Pr. Terry Johnson, the Union Conference President, was also in attendance and took photos.

It was also encouraging to have some divine appointments with people who were visiting Avondale for the weekend and who will be on the planned route and to be able to encourage them to have their churches or schools participate in the event. Many people expressed their prayer support for the journey and some also contributed to the project financially.
