Perth Week 1: Journeying Together in Fellowship and Faith
Grateful for Reconnection
Rolling into Perth felt like stepping back into the modern world. After weeks on the road, the team suddenly remembered what it was like to have reliable internet access and full bars on their phones. It was the perfect moment to catch up on some overdue maintenance, and Perth had plenty in store to keep everyone busy – in the very best way.
Divine Appointments Along the Roadside
On the outskirts of the city, the team linked up with an SDA Auto Electrician, and together they got the trailer’s taillights shining bright once again. But the roadside repair job quickly turned into something more. A small crowd gathered, curious about the vehicle and the mission behind it. One lady in particular lit up with excitement over the book she was shown, a lovely reminder that even a simple stop for repairs can turn into a divine appointment.
A Blessed Sabbath of Worship and Revival
The team then settled in at the home of a couple who had been baptised by Pastor Gordon back in New Zealand – full circle moments like these are one of the sweetest parts of ministry life. From there, it was straight into a busy and blessed Sabbath, with a three-part revival series delivered for the Victoria Park SDA Church. The first two sessions were shared on Sabbath morning, with the third following after lunch. A full day of worship, teaching, and connection.
Sunday brought a quieter rhythm, with the modern comforts of connectivity finally put to good use catching up on book work and reports. Even a ministry on wheels needs a little time behind the desk!
Tending Faithfully to Essie, Our Trusty Companion
Come Tuesday, it was time for some serious mechanical TLC. The trailer was towed over to Roger Millist’s place, where the two spent a couple of days giving Prado a full service and working through a list of niggling issues with Essie – the beloved vehicle at the heart of this journey.
First on the list: a blown muffler, swiftly replaced with a shiny new one. Then came fresh spark plugs and a full carburettor overhaul, and before long, Essie was purring along beautifully. Not bad at all for a young lady celebrating her 100th birthday!
With Essie back in action, the trailer was tucked safely away in a locked caravan park at Rossmoyne Retirement Village, ready and waiting for a special program the following week.
Sowing Seeds of Health and Hope
As the week drew to a gentle close, the team’s hearts were full, with more opportunities to serve and share God’s love with the community. Two “Ancient Remedies for Modern Ailments” health programs were presented at Victoria Park Church on Friday night, with a third delivered on Sabbath morning as part of the church service.
The week rounded off beautifully with a meeting alongside the church’s health outreach team, offering guidance and encouragement on how they might grow and shape their own health ministry programs in the community.
This week was a wonderful reminder that ministry happens everywhere – under a car bonnet, on a church stage, and in every conversation along the way.
