Bunnings Display | Burnie TAS

Sunday: 5 April

What a Blessing — A Perfect Day at Bunnings, Burnie!
What a gift it was to wake up to an extra hour of sleep as Daylight Saving came to an end! It made the early 7:30 am departure a little easier, and we headed off to Burnie in good spirits.

Bubsie Gets a Colourful Neighbour!
We swung by the Burnie church to pick up the car trailer and made our way to Bunnings, where we set up right alongside the sausage sizzle crew. They had quite the showpiece themselves — a Polaris beach buggy on display as the prize for a fundraiser raffle in support of the North West hospital!
It made for quite the comparison next to our dear little Bubsie — but here’s the thing: many people said they would rather win Bubsie than the buggy! Of course, she wasn’t on offer, but we loved hearing it all the same!

The People Just Kept Coming!
The morning brought a lovely, steady flow of people through the display, and it was wonderful to have Mark and Shellene Redman alongside us, doing a fantastic job sharing Bubsie’s story with every visitor who stopped by. Karl Winchcombe also joined us for a time, and his presence was warmly welcomed.
A special mention too for Bunnings, who kindly handed us free hot drink coupons at the start of the day — a thoughtful gesture that kept the team warm and going throughout the morning!

A Friendly Word Opens Many Doors!
One of our team also took up a spot near the other entrance and gently encouraged customers heading in to come and visit Bubsie once they had finished their shopping. It worked a treat — many took up the invitation and came over to meet the team and hear the story. Sometimes a friendly word at the right moment makes all the difference!

Wonderful New Friends Join the Team!
The afternoon brought a wonderful new wave of energy as Robert and Marita Maywald and Rowan Bryant arrived to help out. They did a brilliant job connecting with visitors, sharing the story, and handing out booklets and YouTube cards. The children were especially delighted with the M&M Easter treats and the Bubsie activity pages they received — such a fun and memorable touch!

An Exciting Door Opens for the Future!
One of the most exciting moments of the day came when we made contact with a gentleman from one of Tasmania’s car clubs. The potential for future interactions and connections through that meeting is something we are genuinely excited about — we love seeing doors open in unexpected ways!

Amazing Weather!
And the weather? Absolutely perfect — not a drop of rain in sight, despite the gloomy forecasts that had been posted online earlier in the week! We were so grateful to the Lord for a beautiful day that made everything just that little bit more special.

Grateful Hearts Heading Home!
We packed up at 3 pm, stopped to fill up with fuel on the way, and made it back to our base in Devonport with hearts full of gratitude. Tomorrow we head off to North East Tasmania for more displays — and we can’t wait for what the day will bring!
