Connecting with Community in Western Adelaide
May has begun with fresh inspiration and new readings that have been enriching our morning reflections. Our current focus on wisdom literature has been particularly thought-provoking, offering perspectives on living securely even in uncertain times. These reflections on finding direction and maintaining peace of mind regardless of external circumstances have been valuable as we continue our journey.

Community Gathering in Western Adelaide
Today took us to the western part of Adelaide for a special community engagement event with the Grace Centre community group. We had been invited by Marty Thomson, who coordinates this community, to present on a topic Kevin had previously shared at an event in Kempsey, NSW when Marty was based there.

Our restored vintage car Bubsie was prominently displayed outside the venue, creating an immediate point of interest for attendees. The community gathering included about 60 participants, creating a warm and engaged atmosphere. It was particularly refreshing to reconnect with familiar faces from previous years, including Wolfgang and Julie Stefani, along with several others we hadn’t seen in some time.

The morning program included a thoughtful discussion session facilitated by Wolfgang, followed by Kevin’s presentation on family relationships using historical examples from the life of Moses and his family of origin. The content explored principles of resilience, identity, and values transmission that remain relevant in contemporary family contexts.

Afternoon Connections
Following the morning session, we shared a communal lunch with the participants, providing an excellent opportunity for deeper conversations and connections. Many attendees took the opportunity to examine Bubsie more closely, asking questions about the restoration process and taking photographs.

The afternoon session featured Kevin sharing the compelling narrative of Nevill Westwood’s journey with Bubsie, highlighting themes of perseverance, determination, and vision. This historical account resonated with many in the audience, who appreciated the blend of automotive history and human resilience depicted in the story.

Before concluding, many participants gathered for final photographs with Bubsie and collected QR code cards for additional information about our project. We then carefully loaded our vintage vehicle back onto its trailer for the return journey.

Exploring Adelaide
On our return trip, we took a scenic detour through Adelaide’s city center, scouting potential filming locations for upcoming documentation of our journey. The route along the Torrens River offered spectacular views and reminded us of the natural beauty surrounding this vibrant city.

The day proved both productive and enjoyable, providing meaningful engagement with the Grace Centre community. Their warm welcome and hospitality made our visit particularly memorable, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to share our project with such an engaged audience.

As we continue our journey, these community connections remain one of the most rewarding aspects of our travels with Bubsie across Australia.
