Kalgoorlie: Community Gathering and Bubsie Stories

Morning Refreshment Despite Time Zone Struggles
After yesterday’s scorching heat, we awoke refreshed, though still adjusting to Western Australia’s time zone. We positioned Bubsie under a shady tree on the lawn – a strategic placement for comfortable viewing in Kalgoorlie’s climate.

Early Arrivals and Fellowship
Early visitors examined Bubsie before the morning gathering, where we enjoyed warm fellowship with the local community. Kevin delivered a presentation summarising both Nevill’s original 1924 journey and our 2025 expedition, sharing stories of guidance and unexpected connections throughout the travels. Desiree captivated children with an adventure story and distributed Bubsie activity sheets for young enthusiasts.

Post-Service Engagement and Technical Discussions
The information table proved popular afterwards, with numerous books and QR code cards quickly distributed to interested community members. Meanwhile, Warren and Kevin remained busy fielding detailed questions about Bubsie’s mechanical features and restoration – these technical conversations never seem to end when passionate car enthusiasts gather!

Beautiful Lunch and Afternoon Rest
A delicious lunch and continued fellowship with community members provided the perfect conclusion before we returned to our vans for well-deserved afternoon rest – essential recovery time during touring life.
