A Community Morning at Seddon Church Hall
A Gray Start with a Silver Lining
We woke to a wet, overcast morning—not exactly ideal weather for an outdoor display! We set off from our base at 8:15, only to realize that David had already headed straight to the venue. When we arrived at Seddon Church Hall, we positioned Bubsie right in the middle of the carpark and held our breath.
Then something wonderful happened: while the sky stayed gray, it brightened considerably, and the rain stopped! What a blessing to have dry weather for our community event.
Setting the Scene
The church had created a warm, welcoming atmosphere. A free book stall was set up right next to us, and inside the hall, another book stall waited alongside a serving table where they were selling delicious hot dogs, chips, and popcorn. The smell alone was inviting!
Before we officially opened, one of the church members organizing the food got a ride in Bubsie—always a joy to share! Then Pastor Miroslav hopped in with Kevin to help position the car perfectly and get the gazebo set up over it.
The Community Responds
As we set everything up, we were already sharing Bubsie’s story and handing out copies of “The Overlander” along with QR cards. The community turnout was fantastic! People came because of the leaflets church members had dropped in nearby letterboxes and the announcements they’d shared on Facebook. The church had done an excellent job getting the word out.
A Youth Rush Reunion
One of the highlights of the morning was when the Youth Rush team arrived! They were gathering from different areas to rendezvous before launching their two-week tour. Kevin shared Bubsie’s story with them since they’ll be traveling ahead of us through Western Victoria.
It was wonderful to see Sandy Wallis again—she’s coordinating that energetic group, and we’d connected with her earlier in our journey. There’s something special about seeing different parts of this ministry coming together, all working toward the same mission.
A Prayerful Send-Off
We gathered inside the hall for prayer together, joining hearts and voices before everyone headed off in different directions. After packing up Bubsie and loading her into the trailer, we all went on our way, blessed by a lovely morning of community connection.
Gray skies couldn’t dampen the warmth of fellowship and shared purpose. Grateful for a church that opens its arms to the community and for the Youth Rush team blazing trails ahead.
