A Sabbath Filled with Fellowship
After a much-needed night’s rest, we were welcomed into the Esperance church family for a day of warm fellowship and worship. What a joy it was to share the story of our journey with the congregation, especially with those who hadn’t yet met Bubsie on his visit last year! It was a true privilege to bring the Divine Service message. A delicious shared lunch followed, and then the afternoon opened up with a couple of programs from the “Ancient Remedies for Modern Ailments” series. Overlanders, recipe sheets and children’s resources were passed around, and the Health and Wellbeing cards were placed in the hands of church members to share at an upcoming local show. Seeing their eagerness to reach out to their community warmed our hearts.
Sea, Sand and Wonder at Cape Le Grand
The next day, we took time to breathe deeply and soak up the beauty of Cape Le Grand National Park, where the beaches are simply stunning. We even took the Prado for a gentle cruise along the sand, and found ourselves chatting with friendly locals and visitors along the way. Every turn was a reminder of the Creator’s artistry.
Little Faces, Big Smiles
Our next morning began at Esperance Christian School, where we shared the Neville Westwood story with the children. The car was parked in the playground, and the excitement was wonderful to see! Students and parents gathered around, and we were delighted to hand over 50 copies of the Overlander. Every child also went home with a colouring-in and word-finder activity to enjoy.
Essie Shines in the Spotlight
Then it was into the heart of town, where Essie was parked on the footpath outside a souvenir store owned by a member of our church family. She drew smiles, questions and curious crowds, and around 15 Overlanders found new homes. Many stopped just to hear the story, even if they didn’t take a copy. One lady, after hearing the story from Kerry, felt comfortable enough to share her life’s struggles and gladly received an offer of prayer. It was a tender moment, and a reminder of why we do what we do. Later, a kind gentleman from the building next door stopped and excepted a copy of The Overlander, and spoke such encouraging words about this mission, they really lifted our spirits. We are so thankful for God’s goodness and for the people He places along our path.
When Essie Needed a Rest
While Kerry welcomed visitors and shared books and stories, Gordon was across the road tending to the Prado’s lighting. Perhaps the tools were packed away a little too soon, because when it was time to take Essie to the beachfront, her starter motor gave up. After many hopeful attempts, she stubbornly refused to budge!
So, if Essie wouldn’t come to the trailer, the trailer would go to Essie. With the help of two kind men working at a nearby electrical substation, and Kerry steering, we managed to push her up the ramp and safely into her trailer. Praise the Lord! There she will rest until we reach Warren Mays in Berri.
