Ice, Cars, and Unexpected Treasures

Battling the Bitter Cold
The forecast cold temperatures lived up to expectations today!! After taking some time to clear the ice off windscreens – fingers nearly numb within minutes – we drove to Armidale and set up Bubsie next to a park in the centre of town. The windchill factor made it very cold indeed and even the locals were struggling with it, so we didn’t feel so bad! The sun did come out but didn’t make too much impression on relieving the bitter conditions.

Bubsie Draws a Crowd
Despite the arctic conditions, there were a good number of visitors to Bubsie and we met some very interested people who braved the cold to learn more about our journey.

A Vintage Beauty Appears
Bubsie was also joined by a stunning 1909 Talbot – an amazing old and beautifully restored vehicle that turned heads throughout the day. The craftsmanship and attention to detail were absolutely incredible.

The Invitation of a Lifetime: 140 Cars and Counting!
After we left the park, the Talbot’s owner – a lovely older gentleman with twinkling eyes and endless stories – invited us to his home where he had a collection of 140 old cars! We didn’t have time to see them all, but those we did were so interesting and made a fantastic collection. From vintage Fords to rare European classics, it was like stepping into an automotive museum.

Warmth Through Community Spirit
The BBQ prepared by two enthusiastic teenagers from Guyra church and supported by many wonderful people from Armidale church was absolutely great. The added pancake dessert was a special treat that warmed our hearts as much as our stomachs. Thank you all so much for your incredible hospitality!
