Community Display @ Gavin Hall – Broadford VIC
We departed this morning for Broadford, taking advantage of our closer starting point in Riddells Creek rather than Narre Warren to prepare reports from recent activities while enjoying a scenic route through Lancefield. We arrived in Broadford at approximately 10:00 AM, about an hour ahead of schedule.
Upon arrival at the initially provided address, we discovered after speaking with personnel inside that the display location had been changed to Gavin Hall, situated further along the road, adjacent to a café with higher pedestrian traffic. Promotional posters for our event were already in place. We found several individuals preparing lunch for the event at the new location. We quickly set up the display, which promptly attracted visitors. The organisers thoughtfully arranged seating in shaded areas where attendees could converse while awaiting their turn to view and photograph the vehicle.
During the morning, a reporter from the Seymour Telegraph conducted a photoshoot and interviewed Kevin regarding the Right Around Australia initiative and the Bubsie vehicle. Kevin subsequently presented the vehicle’s history to those gathered in the shade.
Mayor John Dougall visited the display for conversation, followed shortly by Councillor Bob Humm. The Ecumenical Fellowship members provided an excellent lunch featuring sandwiches, savoury appetisers, and desserts. Pastor George Latchman offered a blessing before the meal. Lyn Gunter, a local member who coordinated the display preparations, received a ride in Bubsie as it was being repositioned for trailer loading—a special addition to her birthday celebrations.
We sincerely thank the Broadford community for their hospitality and thorough event preparation. We greatly valued their generous contributions to the project.
