Home Sweet Hotel: Our Arrival at Granya!
After a long day on the road, we pulled into the Granya Hotel, nestled 45 minutes out of Albury in Victoria. We were tired, but our hearts lifted the moment we arrived. Built in 1928, this grand old hotel has been given a beautiful new purpose. It was recently purchased by an SDA ministry led by Danny and Ledua Brooks, very special friends from New Zealand.
Training Hearts and Hands!
Danny and Ledua are in the middle of a five-month Medical Missionary Training School, and what a blessing it is to see a building with so much history now training students to serve others and share God’s love. Their dedication is a true inspiration, and it was a privilege to spend time with them and the students.
Essie Turns Heads!
We couldn’t resist putting Essie on display out the front of the hotel so the locals and students could have look at her. Built around the same time as the hotel, little Essie looked right at home beside a building from her own era. She drew plenty of smiles!
Busy Hands, Happy Hearts: A Day of Serving!
Our day at Granya was full, and it was a joy to be able to help. I had the privilege of running a class on apologetics, repairing some power tools that were in need of maintenance, and leading the evening worship. We were also delighted to give copies of the Overlander to every student, as well as the staff and helpers. They received them so graciously, and we pray the book will be a blessing to each of them.
Rise, Shine and Ride the Ferry!
We said our goodbyes and left Granya at 5:30am on Tuesday morning. Our early start earned us a special treat: we were the very first people that day to cross Lake Hume on the Wymah Ferry! It was our last border crossing of the journey, and taking the rig across by ferry saved us some time on our way to Sydney. It felt like a gentle farewell to the borders, and a reminder of God’s kindness along the way.
