Katanning’s Town Square Comes Alive!
The cool morning air kissed our faces as we woke early, ready for another adventure. By 7:40 am, we were on our way to Katanning, where Brett Weier and Ross Craig greeted us at the church with warmth. Once we’d parked the vans safely, we walked down the street together, excited to see what the day would bring.
The Power of Community Connection
Word had clearly spread throughout Katanning! The pre-event advertising had worked its magic, and we were thrilled to see just how many people were eager to meet Bubsie. From the moment we opened until 1:30 pm, there wasn’t a quiet moment—visitors flowed through continuously, each bringing their own stories and curiosity.
Brett and Ross outdid themselves with a fantastic sausage sizzle that turned our display into a proper community event. The aroma of sizzling sausages drew people in, and the casual atmosphere gave everyone the perfect excuse to stay, chat, and really get to know Bubsie’s remarkable journey.
A Splash of Red Hat Joy
Our hearts absolutely lit up when a cheerful group of Red Hatter ladies appeared after finishing their morning tea! What a burst of color and laughter they brought with them! Their bubbly enthusiasm and genuine delight in discovering Bubsie was utterly infectious. These ladies knew how to appreciate life’s special moments, and their visit became one of the highlights of our entire day.
The response was so overwhelming that we distributed more than 100 show bags packed with information booklets—it felt wonderful knowing that Bubsie’s story would continue to be shared in homes across Katanning long after we’d left.
Winding Down with Happy Hearts
As 3 pm rolled around, we made our way back to the vans, ready for some well-earned rest. While we unwound and started thinking about tomorrow’s journey to Mt Barker, we found ourselves replaying the day’s best moments—the laughter, the genuine interest, the sense of belonging we’d felt.
Katanning didn’t just host us; they embraced us. Every handshake, every smile, every question asked showed us that small towns have the biggest hearts. We’re already looking forward to the memories we’ll make tomorrow!
