Sheffield — What a Beautiful Day!
We set off at 9:00 am on a glorious Autumn morning, the kind of day that makes you glad to be on the road. The scenery along the way was simply breathtaking, and we couldn’t resist a brief stop as we passed through Railton to admire the wonderful topiaries lining the main street and spilling into the gardens of local homes. What a delightful little surprise!

Setting Up with a Lovely Welcome
We pulled into the Sheffield Motor Inn carpark and began unloading Bubsie just as Dean Way arrived — the man who had done all the wonderful organising for the day. He had arranged for us to park on the grass in front of some of Sheffield’s world-famous murals, right next door to the inviting Bossimi’s Café and Icecreamery. After a fun little drive through town with Dean to get our bearings, Kevin found the perfect spot to park Bubsie under the gazebo. It really couldn’t have been a more charming setting!

Visitors, Farmers & Friendly Faces
It didn’t take long before curious visitors began stopping by, eager to take a look at Bubsie. Kevin slipped away to park the trailer further down the main road in the longer-term parking area, and before we knew it, the morning was in full swing.
What a wonderful mix of people we met! Local farmers and long-time Sheffield residents mingled with a growing number of tourists who were beginning to arrive in town ahead of the National Rowing Championships on Lake Barrington the following week. There was such a lovely buzz in the air!

Pies, Conversation & a Special Four-Legged Guest
Lunch was a treat — delicious vegetarian pies from the café next door kept us going as we continued chatting with visitors and handing out The Overlander booklet, with the very welcome help of both Dean and Diane Way.
The afternoon brought one very special surprise — a pet Alpaca who wandered into the mix and instantly became the star of the show, much to the delight of the tourists!
As we began packing up to reload Bubsie into the trailer, Diane took the opportunity to go for a ride — a lovely way to round out a wonderful day.

It had been a truly great display, full of warm conversations, new friends, and more than a few smiles.
