Byron Bay Beach and Community Centre: Morning Walks to Media Interviews

Beachside Setup at Apex Park

Just before 8 am, we had our gazebo and display ready at Apex Park, overlooking Byron Bay’s stunning beach. The location proved perfect for capturing the morning crowd – beachwalkers returning from sunrise strolls and swimmers fresh from their morning dips kept us busy until 10 am.

Live Radio Boost
The morning got extra exciting when Kevin took a live phone interview with an ABC reporter right from the park. By the end of our display, we noticed increased foot traffic from people who had heard our location announced on the live radio broadcast – nothing beats real-time media coverage for drawing crowds!

Efficient Team Coordination
As the Apex Park session wrapped up, we demonstrated smooth logistics: Glenda loaded the gazebo and resources into the team car and headed to Manna Haven Café, while Kevin and Julian Archer took Bubsie down to Byron Community Centre as the rest of the team walked there. Teamwork makes everything flow seamlessly.

Channel Seven Spotlight
At Byron Community Centre, we captured a great team photo before Channel Seven conducted interviews with Kevin and Julian about the story and day’s events. Reporter Elise even got the full experience with a ride in Bubsie – nothing beats hands-on journalism for authentic storytelling!

Converging at the Café

After the Channel Seven interview, Kevin and Julian drove Bubsie to meet the rest of the team at Manna Haven Café, setting up perfectly for our next venue.

From beach walkers to live radio to television crews – Byron Bay delivered on multiple fronts, showcasing how the right location and media timing can amplify your message across the community!

Creative Café Positioning
While Kevin handled the media interviews, Manna Haven Café staff went above and beyond, removing sections of their fence so Bubsie could drive directly onto the front lawn. Kevin skillfully maneuvered Bubsie along the sidewalk and through the fence uprights to position her perfectly in front of the café – now that’s customer service!

Lunch Hour Dynamics and Beautiful Hospitality
The pre-lunch timing brought heavy foot traffic initially, with both passersby and café customers showing interest. As the lunch hour progressed, visitor numbers decreased but conversation quality increased – sometimes fewer people means deeper connections. The team took turns enjoying a beautiful meal prepared by Manna Haven Café, whose wonderful ministry clearly extends beyond just serving food.

Student Support and Ministerial Connections
Throughout the day, we appreciated assistance from Arise for Life Bible Students who were working in Byron Bay. Additionally, the Northern Rivers ministers group was meeting in town, providing wonderful opportunities to reconnect with old friends and meet ministers from locations we’ll visit later this week. These professional networks often become personal friendships.

Split Departure Strategy
At 3 pm, we efficiently packed up and loaded Bubsie. Rodney and Karen departed for Ballina with the Bubsie trailer while the Amos and Raams team returned to the caravan park to collect their caravans before meeting up in Ballina – our base for the next two nights.
From beachside morning displays to café lawn positioning, Byron Bay showcased both media opportunities and genuine community connections across multiple venues!
