Filming Day | Brisbane Qld
Wednesday: 3 September
Filming Day in Brisbane CBD
Early Morning Production Preparations
The filming schedule commenced with a 5:45 am start time designed to minimise city traffic interference. Kevin and Glenda required period-appropriate white shirts and hats to represent Nevill and Greg, necessitating creative solutions given their limited wardrobe options, while Gary managed to source some inexpensive hats, which looked the part, from local retail outlets.
Traffic Delays and City Hall Circuit Filming
Delayed commencement occurred due to slow city traffic affecting crew arrival times. The production completed three circumnavigation circuits around City Hall blocks before expanding to additional filming locations throughout the central business district.
Mechanical Issues and Police Attention
Increasing traffic conditions coincided with steering system problems, causing noticeable vehicle shaking. A police van stopped to investigate the wheel instability and initially questioned the vehicle registration status. Following police safety recommendations and traffic concerns, the decision was made to trailer Bubsie rather than continue street filming. Officers accepted informational materials before departure, while subsequent online verification confirmed Bubsie’s registration was current and up to date.
Alternative Location Filming
Production relocated to Newstead House and concluded at a park beneath Story Bridge, where steering issues appeared to be resolved. These alternative sessions proceeded efficiently, enabling completion of required footage while maintaining safety protocols and avoiding traffic complications.
Community Engagement During Production
Despite the production focus, numerous books and QR program cards were distributed to interested observers throughout the morning filming activities, maintaining the journey’s community outreach.
Technical Issue Identified
Warren was contacted regarding steering concerns, identifying a potentially loose bolt pin requiring attention. The afternoon was dedicated to administrative tasks and rest.
