Merredin to Maida Vale: Active Stops and Reunion Preparations

Farm Farewell and Kellerberrin Connections
After a delightful evening at the Willis farm, we departed early for Maida Vale with strategic stops planned along the way. First up: Kellerberrin, where we parked Bubsie near the Community Services shop on the main street.
Local coordinator Malcolm Eastwick joined us, introducing numerous community contacts to Bubsie and creating a bustling, highly active stop with curious residents engaging enthusiastically about the vintage car.

Northam Shopping Centre Surprise
Fred, organiser of Sunday’s Northam visit, met us before we headed to a shopping centre where traditional gender roles emerged – ladies tackled supply shopping while men displayed Bubsie. The half-hour stop attracted approximately 40 interested people, including an unexpected encounter: Michael Leitch, childhood friend of Graeme Davies (son of Greg Davies), spotted the car and rushed over with genuine excitement. These spontaneous connections to the original journey’s legacy always create special moments.

Bubsie B Reunion and Maida Vale Arrival
At 2 pm, we continued toward Maida Vale, our base until Sunday. En route, Joe and Cynthia Cesaro, towing Bubsie B, caught up with us after their December 26 departure from South Australia – wonderful to reunite both historic vehicles for tomorrow’s celebrations!

Evening Preparations and Route Reconnaissance
Roger Millist provided our briefing for tomorrow’s celebration, while both Bubsies and the large trailer received thorough washing for display readiness. Shane then drove Warren and Kevin into Perth for route reconnaissance, ensuring smooth execution of tomorrow’s drive.

After completing laundry, a late dinner, and final preparations, we headed to bed knowing a big celebration day awaited.
