Divine Appointments and Sacred Moments

Settling In with Grateful Hearts
By now, we’ve settled into a lovely rhythm with setting up Bubsie each evening. After signing in as volunteers, we had a precious few moments together as the first guests began to trickle in. That’s when Glenda had a wonderful idea—why not let Pieter and Veronica experience the walk themselves? They’d never been before! So off they went to get their tickets, and we couldn’t wait to hear all about it later.

Watching the Night Unfold
As the evening unfolded, visitors started gathering around the car, curious and eager. At first, we wondered if perhaps it might be a quieter night than Tuesday. But then our dear security friends shared some encouraging news—several buses full of people were on their way! Sure enough, we soon found ourselves in the midst of a beautiful, steady flow of conversations and connections.

A Moment That Gave Us Goosebumps
Veronica was chatting warmly with some girls when she asked if they’d heard of the book “The Overlander.” One of the girls lit up and said, “Her mum wrote that book!” pointing to her friend. Our hearts skipped a beat. We asked if her mum was here.
And then she came—Sukeshinie Goonatilleke herself! We introduced ourselves, took photos together, and shared the most beautiful stories of how people had come to Christ through her books. Right there, surrounded by the buzz of the evening, we praised the Lord together. What a divine appointment!

Experiencing the Magic Firsthand
At 9 pm, Pieter and Veronica set off on the walk while Kevin and Glenda lovingly tended to the car. When they returned, their faces told the whole story. Now they understood—truly understood—why thousands of people make this journey each year. The true Christmas story, told with such beauty and power, touches something deep in the soul.

Hearts Prepared to Receive
As people finished their journey, we had the joy of sharing a book called “The Ultimate Gift” with them. One precious lady nearly brought us to tears when she shared that she’d been praying for exactly this—something to share about Jesus with friends at Christmas time. We gladly gave her extra copies, and her face absolutely glowed with gratitude. God had heard her prayer, and we got to be part of His answer. What an incredible privilege!

A Warm Farewell
When the evening drew to a close, our faithful security team was right there beside us, watching over us as we packed up. Driving home under the night sky, our hearts were absolutely overflowing with gratitude.

What a truly wonderful night the Lord had given us.
