Racing Hearts and Revving Engines: Our Epic Day at Riverside Adventist School

The Journey Begins: Dodging Rain Clouds
After a quick 7km jaunt from our previous stop, we rolled into Riverside Adventist School just as the morning clouds were clearing up. We arrived at 10:30 am, right before the official festivities kicked off – and thankfully, the rain decided to stay behind.

Star of the Show: Bubsie Makes Her Grand Entrance
All eyes were on our beloved Bubsie as she cruised through the school gates like a celebrity arriving at a red carpet event! The crowd’s excitement was palpable as she positioned herself at the Billy cart race starting line.
When Bubsie’s engine roared to life, the cheers erupted from every corner of the school grounds. She took off around the track with the grace of a vintage racing legend, crossing that finish line in record-breaking style. What a showstopper!

Community Connection Under the Gazebo
We nestled Bubsie under a cozy gazebo where she became the star attraction while the school children took their turns racing. It was heartwarming to watch the kids zoom down the track in their homemade billy carts, their faces beaming with pure joy and determination.
The real magic happened during the quieter moments between races. Families gathered around Bubsie, eyes wide with curiosity and admiration. We handed out books like confetti, sharing stories and answering endless questions about our mechanical marvel. Even folks who already owned our books couldn’t resist getting up close and personal with Bubsie’s impressive engine.

A Festival of Fun and Community Spirit
This wasn’t just a billy cart race – it was a full-blown community celebration! The school grounds buzzed with activity:
Food stalls serving up delicious treats
A bouncing castle that had kids (and some adults!) bouncing with glee
Book stalls spreading the love of reading
Health check-ups keeping everyone in tip-top shape
Neck and shoulder massages (our team happily parted with $5 for five minutes of bliss!)
An impressive lineup of vintage and modern cars that made every car enthusiast’s heart sing

Sunshine, Finals, and Pure Excitement
Mother Nature decided to join the party properly, blessing us with brilliant sunshine by lunchtime. The atmosphere was electric as the Billy cart finals took center stage after lunch.
The competition was fierce, the fun was infectious, and the community spirit was absolutely incredible. Watching those final races, seeing the determination on the kids’ faces and hearing the crowd’s enthusiastic cheers – it reminded us why events like these are so special.

More Than Just a Race Day
As we packed up and prepared to say goodbye to this wonderful school community along the river, our hearts were full. Days like these aren’t just about showcasing Bubsie (though she certainly stole the show!). They’re about building connections, sharing stories, and hopefully inspiring more families to discover the amazing educational opportunities right here in our backyard.
We’re already looking forward to our next adventure – and who knows where Bubsie will take us next!
