Youth Vespers Program | Melrose Park SA
Friday: 9 May
Torrens Valley School Display @ Hope Valley SA
Morning Departure
We began our day with plans to relocate our base to Brighton Beachfront Holiday Park. After an early breakfast, we departed Elizabeth at 7:30 am to transport the Bubsie trailer to Brighton Church carpark. Heavy traffic extended our journey to approximately 90 minutes.
Reconnaissance and Supplies
Before returning to Elizabeth, we took a brief detour past my former residence in Ascot Park, then proceeded to Melrose Park Church to assess street parking, property access, and identify suitable locations for unloading Bubsie for the evening’s event.
Our next stop was Bunnings, where we purchased an additional diesel container and portable lighting equipment for night displays. We also acquired some groceries to keep ourselves energized throughout the day.
Complete Relocation
Back at Elizabeth, we efficiently packed the van and hitched it up for travel. Together with Pieter and Veronica in their van, we set off, feeling grateful for the accommodation Elizabeth had provided during our stay in the Adelaide area.
We refueled along Prospect Road, taking advantage of lower fuel prices, then continued down South Road toward Brighton Beachfront Holiday Park. Traffic moved particularly slowly, extending our travel time considerably.
Setting Up Base
After reaching the Holiday Park, we established our vans and appreciated the opportunity for refreshing hot showers. The afternoon allowed time for laundry, meal preparation, and dinner. We also conducted an interview with a reporter from the Mt Barker Courier.
Evening Event at Melrose Park
With evening approaching, we collected the Bubsie trailer from Brighton church carpark and drove to Melrose Park. There, we unloaded Bubsie, maneuvered it through the gates, and positioned it prominently in front of the church. Our newly purchased lights proved effective for the evening display.
The church congregation, primarily comprised of members with African heritage, showed great interest in the vehicle. Passersby were also drawn to the display and appreciated receiving information about the journey.
Presentation and Fellowship
During the evening program, Kevin presented the story of Bubsie and explained how Nevill’s confidence in Biblical prophecy inspired his journey to share a message of hope regarding God’s plan for humanity.
Following the presentation, attendees gathered in the hall to enjoy refreshments and continue conversations about the display.
