Morning Setup at Humbley Oval
Our day began at Lismore SDA church, setting up base camp before Kevin handled a phone interview with a Grafton reporter. Lynde Waldron provided excellent local guidance, showing us key locations before we moved to Humbley Oval’s prime corner position opposite the Coles and K Mart shopping centre. The steady flow of church and community visitors led to wonderful conversations about cars, Lismore’s character, and the resilience shown during recent floods. On this warm day, chilled water became our lifeline – sometimes the simple provisions make all the difference!

Blue Hills College Classic Car Lineup
Moving to Blue Hills College, we discovered Bubsie would have distinguished company – three other classic cars belonging to students’ parents and grandparents lined up alongside her. Student excitement was palpable, enhanced by a free sausage sizzle and affordable donuts. Younger students completed special Bubsie worksheets while Year 3’s led chapel in the multi-purpose building, where Kevin presented the story to an engaged audience. When parents arrived for pickup, they eagerly photographed the cars and took home copies of God’s Rescue Plan supplied by Lismore church. Having a 102-year-old car visit school definitely created afternoon magic!

Evening Church Presentation and Fellowship
After a refreshing break, shower, and Lynde’s incredible pumpkin soup (absolutely the best!), we positioned Bubsie in front of the church for our evening display. While casual visitors stopped to collect books, about 20 dedicated attendees gathered in the hall for Kevin’s full presentation. The night concluded perfectly with drinks and a delicious supper featuring fresh fruit and homemade slices. The local church team’s thorough preparation made every aspect of our Lismore visit seamless – heartfelt thanks to everyone who worked behind the scenes to create such a welcoming day!
