Community Display | St Marys NSW

Friday: 24 October

An Early Start at Coachman’s Park
We left at 7:50 am, heading towards St. Mary’s with excitement and purpose. We arrived early to set up in the park and immediately began handing out copies of The Overlander. The regular park-goers absolutely loved seeing Bubsie and stopped for wonderful chats. Pastor Milan and an elder from St. Mary’s Church plant soon arrived to offer their support, and we felt truly welcomed by the community.

A Buzzing Morning
The morning absolutely flew by! There was fantastic foot traffic throughout the park. We had the pleasure of meeting the two Jo’s from the St Mary’s Community Center, who came to check that everything was running smoothly. We thanked them warmly for generously allowing us to use Coachman’s Park for the day. They were so enthusiastic that they snapped some photos and shared us on their community page—what wonderful publicity!

Lunch Breaks and Special Connections
We took our lunch breaks in shifts to keep the display going strong. While eating, I spotted a group of hearing-impaired people enjoying their lunch and was delighted when they came over to see Bubsie. The elder quickly grabbed a pen and paper, and we communicated beautifully! We handed out lots of QR cards throughout the day, as there were many visitors for whom English was a second language. Each interaction felt meaningful and connecting.

A Joyful Reunion
The highlight came when Glenda’s face lit up—her three cousins had come to meet her at the car display! One was visiting all the way from Vietnam, another had just arrived from New Zealand, and they’d all happened to be in Sydney together this special weekend. What are the odds? They stayed and enthusiastically helped us pack up.

Caring for Bubsie
After the drive back to Galston, we gave Bubsie the royal treatment she deserves! We gave her a thorough wash and polish, cleaned the spark plugs, and carefully checked the oil, water, and petrol. Once everything was in perfect condition, we tucked her safely back into the trailer, all ready and refreshed for the displays scheduled over the weekend ahead. Our hearts are full.
