A fantastic start to the day at New Hope Church!
We arrived nice and early to find the car park practically empty—perfect timing! Bubsie, being the nimble little adventurer that she is, squeezed through the bollards and took pride of place right in front of the church. Within minutes, curious church members were checking her out, and we were handing out Overlander books and QR cards to eager visitors. After setting up our trailer in a safe spot, we created a cosy information station with our gazebo and table just inside the church entrance, complete with all our resources on display.
A Busy Morning of Connection
Pieter and Veronica jumped into a Sabbath School class while Glenda and Kevin worked the room, chatting with new arrivals. Things really picked up during the break—it was fantastic to see so many people interested! Then came the call to worship, and we headed into the service. Pieter stayed behind to chat with some community members, including a special visitor: a worker from the Adventist Aged Care home he’d met earlier in the week. She’d brought her boys along, just as promised, and they absolutely loved hearing our adventure story!
The Heart of the Day
Glenda delivered a wonderful 15-minute overview of our journey—it was genuinely inspiring. Then Pastor Murray Hunter led a powerful service on John 8, reminding us that Jesus always stands up for us. It was the perfect message to wrap around our visit!
The Energy Continues
After the service, the excitement didn’t slow down one bit! People gathered around Bubsie and our information table, and we were thrilled to sign up several new newsletter subscribers. We refueled with a delicious lunch (and honestly, who doesn’t love good church food?), then packed up our gear. Kevin showed off his impressive driving skills once again, carefully navigating Bubsie back through those bollards and safely into the trailer—complete with an audience of excited Adventurers cheering him on!
Wrapping Up
Glenda and Kevin then headed to Campbelltown Church to drop off the trailer and collect the key for tomorrow, while Veronica and Pieter returned to our Galston base to put TIJ fliers into all the Overlander books. Everything’s now ready for our next stop!
It was an absolutely fantastic day of connection, inspiration, and community. We love what we’re doing!
