Right Around Australia – Broome Caravan Park Display

Settling into Broome
We’ve been warmly welcomed at the Broome church overflow caravan park, where we’ve found comfortable accommodation for our stay. The hospitality has been exceptional, making us feel right at home.

Maintenance and Preparation Day
Today proved to be an essential catch-up day for our team. We tackled running repairs on the vans and gave our dusty vehicles, including Bubsie, a thorough wash after our travels through the outback. Clothes were laundered, and some team members took advantage of the opportunity to stock up on supplies with a shopping trip.

Team Reunion
A special highlight of the day was Carol’s arrival from Perth this afternoon, rejoining our team for the next phase of our journey. Having her back with us again added to the positive energy as we continue our adventure.

Community Barbecue Evening
The local church, led by Gavin Dagg and his wife, organised a delightful ‘no bull’ burger evening for all the campers at the park. This provided the perfect opportunity to invite everyone to view Bubsie and hear our story. We set up our display lights to showcase the car to best advantage in the evening setting.

Evening Presentation
Around 20 people gathered around Bubsie after enjoying the delicious burgers, creating an intimate and engaged audience. Kevin, Roger, and Warren shared the captivating story of our journey and Nevill Westwood’s original adventure, with the crowd showing genuine interest and appreciation.

Technical Challenge and Solution
After Bubsie’s thorough wash and cleaning, we encountered a small technical hiccup when the engine was reluctant to start, likely due to moisture affecting the spark plugs. However, our resourceful team quickly solved the problem using a hairdryer to dry out the plugs. Once dried, she fired up beautifully and purred like the well-maintained vintage car she is.

The combination of practical maintenance, team reunion, and community engagement made for a perfectly balanced day in Broome.
