Anzac Day - Community Event | Riverland SA
Friday: 25 April
Special Anzac Day Message – God’s Wake Up Call @ Riverland SA
Although we didn’t attend a formal dawn service, ANZAC Day provided a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by service members to preserve peace and protect our freedoms. We spent the holiday primarily preparing for upcoming weekend programs, with Glenda confirming appointments and finalizing details via email. We also caught up on some necessary laundry during this downtime.
The Bubsie trailer continued receiving maintenance work, including door repairs, fresh paint, and a thorough bearing service. We were particularly relieved that the mechanics identified and replaced the damaged bearing that had caused issues earlier in our journey, preventing what could have become a more serious problem.
The Riverland region received welcome rainfall throughout the day. While precipitation varied across areas, the moisture was beneficial for the parched landscape, with visible improvement in the local vegetation.
In the evening, Bubsie was transported back to the church property on an open trailer. We positioned it near the main entrance and set up the resource table before our first event began at 6:30 PM. Pastor Gary and Robyn Kent were visiting for the weekend, returning to the first congregation they had independently ministered to.
Pastor Gary Kent delivered an insightful presentation titled “God’s Wake Up Call,” which examined important warnings and preparedness strategies for uncertain times. Following the presentation, attendees enjoyed refreshments and conversation, providing an excellent opportunity to reconnect with old friends and colleagues.
We were particularly pleased to reunite with the Bosnjakovic family whom we had known during our time in Ballarat when Daniella and Rick Walton lived there. It was also wonderful to reconnect with other team members—the Pitt family from Copeville and Pieter and Veronica Raams.
