Darwin Regional Community Day – Right Around Australia

Community Gathering Success
The Darwin regional community day brought together local congregations at the Central Darwin venue for a comprehensive day-long program. This event represented a significant milestone in our ongoing Right Around Australia project, showcasing the collaborative spirit of our community outreach efforts.

Team Presentations and Updates
Both the Youth Rush team and the Right Around Australia team participated in the regional gathering. The Youth Rush team, who had been actively engaged in community outreach activities throughout Darwin over the past three weeks, delivered presentations during the morning session alongside the RAA team. Both groups shared insights about their community engagement initiatives and the positive responses they had received from local residents.

Morning Program Highlights
Warren and Desiree facilitated the community lesson discussion, while the distinctive Bubsie display positioned at the venue’s entrance attracted considerable attention from community members and passersby. The display served as an effective conversation starter and drew visitors throughout the day.

Musical Entertainment and Main Address
The community choir delivered an inspiring musical program featuring a selection of uplifting pieces. Pastor Kevin Amos presented the main address, providing meaningful content for attendees.

Community Engagement Activities
Following the main program, attendees had opportunities to interact with the Bubsie display and take commemorative photographs. A notable highlight was the visit from The Honourable Robyn Cahill OAM, MLA for Port Darwin, who showed genuine interest in the project story and even experienced a ride in the vehicle.

Shared Meal and Fellowship
The community came together for a combined lunch served in the pleasant outdoor setting beneath the shade trees, fostering informal conversations and relationship building among attendees.

Afternoon Testimonials and Farewell
The afternoon session featured personal testimonials from RAA team members who shared meaningful experiences from their mission journey. A memorable farewell ceremony was held for Bubsie, with the choir and attendees participating in singing “God be with you till we meet again”, as the vehicle processed through the assembled crowd along the walkway. Roger and Carol then departed for Katherine with the vehicle secured on the trailer.

Team Transitions and Continued Programming
Warren and Desiree returned to collect their motorhome from the accommodation facility before continuing their journey toward Katherine. Meanwhile, the remaining team members engaged with the Youth Rush team’s experience-sharing session, which continued for several hours.

Evening Program Conclusion
The day concluded with the community returning to the main venue for closing activities. The program featured additional musical performances and community worship, with Kevin delivering an inspirational message. Karen Galo, who leads the Literature Ministry across Northern Australia, provided the closing remarks and benediction.

Youth Rush Community Outreach
The Youth Rush team concluded their Darwin visit with a community book sale event held in the venue’s community hall, providing local residents with access to some inspirational literature.
