Church Display & Expo | Casey VIC
Saturday: 12 April 8am – 1:30pm
Church display – Casey VIC
On Friday, we did not have any scheduled displays. We spent the morning at a laundromat, completing the necessary washing. We also used this time to print materials for the upcoming weekend events and handle other administrative tasks.
In the afternoon, Glen departed to visit a relative. At the same time, Kevin and I went to the shopping centre to purchase some food and additional clothing layers, as the weather was expected to become cooler. I also took the opportunity to get a haircut, as there was an available appointment at a nearby salon.
On Saturday morning, we did not need to have breakfast, as the church was providing a meal for us. We drove to the Casey location and unloaded the vehicle. Pastor Michael Mohanu had the chance to ride in the car before the display was set up.
During the church’s Study and Main service, attendees could view the car and receive the informational booklet. The pastor incorporated the story of the historical adventure into the day’s program.
After the service, the church provided lunch, and we then packed up the vehicle and trailer and made our way to Heritage College for the afternoon event.
Overall, the day allowed us to handle necessary administrative tasks, connect with the local church community, and prepare for the upcoming display at Heritage College. The flexibility in our schedule enabled us to make the most of the time and resources available.
Saturday: 12 April 3pm – 6pm
Church Expo at Heritage College – Casey VIC
The Expo gazebos had been set up at Heritage College the previous Friday afternoon, and the tables and chairs were ready for the event. On Saturday afternoon, the organising team quickly brought out the various displays, and by 3:00 PM, the Expo was fully prepared.
As a gesture of appreciation, we presented Pastor Michael Mohanu, who had assisted in the preparations, with a RAA cap. The Associate Pastor, Piroska, was also delighted to ride in Bubsie as we positioned the car under the gazebo. Piroska and the ministerial intern, Joshua, were engaged throughout the afternoon, overseeing the children’s crafts and activities.
The Expo featured a range of exhibits, including a Literature Evangelism Ministry display, a Wellness Hub offering health checks and a cooking demonstration, and a Pathfinder station where volunteers made balloon creatures and provided face painting for the children. Live music from various groups added to the lively atmosphere.
Refreshments were available, with a drink stand offering refreshing lemonade and a food stall providing healthy snacks and meals throughout the afternoon and early evening.
As the temperature cooled in the later afternoon, more community members came through the displays, and some registered for an upcoming health seminar.
Overall, it was a successful and well-attended event, culminating in the seventh week of the project. During this time, we had the opportunity to engage with 7,690 people, sharing the story of Bubsie and Nevill Westwood.
As the event drew to a close, it was Joshua’s turn to take a ride in the vehicle before loading it back into the trailer.
