Community & Aged Care Displays | Port Augusta SA

Monday: 22 December

Coastal Journey to Gladstone Square
Our 8 am departure from Kadina took us along the picturesque coastline past Port Pirie, arriving in Port Augusta at 11 am, ready for the Gladstone Square display. The scenic coastal route always makes travel days more enjoyable.

Enthusiastic Welcome and Community Setup
An eager group of local supporters had everything prepared before our arrival – a book stall, children’s activity table, and water bottles for visitors. While the day wasn’t particularly hot, the pleasant breeze kept temperatures comfortable, creating ideal conditions for outdoor conversation.

Steady Interest and In-Depth Discussions
The morning brought consistent visitor flow, with curious community members stopping to admire Bubsie and hear her story. Post-lunch activity naturally slowed, creating perfect opportunities for passionate car enthusiasts to engage Warren in detailed technical discussions about restoration and mechanical features – these deeper conversations often happen when crowds thin.

Monday: 22 December: Second event

Edenfield Family Care Home: Nerrilda
Arriving at Edenfield Family Care Home, we found staff had thoughtfully gathered residents at the front entrance for optimal Bubsie viewing. The response was beautifully divided along experience lines – gentlemen with mechanical backgrounds engaged Warren in detailed technical conversations about the car’s engineering, while ladies reminisced about similar vehicles from their youth.

Staff Enthusiasm and Digital Sharing
The facility staff showed equal excitement, promising to screen the YouTube ‘Record Breakers’ program on their big screens for residents to enjoy later. These extended viewing opportunities mean our visit’s impact continues long after Bubsie drives away.

Evening Rest and Westward Planning
After a full day of community engagement, we headed to Daniela Stahl’s home for accommodation, planning well-deserved rest before tomorrow’s westward journey into new territory.

Aged care visits consistently demonstrate how vintage vehicles unlock treasured memories and bridge generations. When Bubsie comes to your community, expect conversations that span decades and smiles that light up faces, young and old.
