Park Ridge Father’s Day Fun Day: Classic Cars and Community Spirit
Early Morning Prep and Last-Minute Changes
Getting up early paid off when we discovered a last-minute venue change just before departure. Thanks to our preparation, we smoothly disconnected Bubsie’s trailer, relocated the van to accommodate another activity, and reconnected everything without stress. Sometimes being ready ahead of schedule saves the day!
Smooth Setup at Park Ridge
The drive across to Park Ridge went without a hitch, and we arrived to find most activities already in full swing. Setting up Bubsie and getting the audio-visual screen running was quick work, and we even managed to add a couple of extra videos to the display – everything functioned perfectly.
Community Connections and Information Sharing
Throughout the day, we enjoyed steady foot traffic and handed out copies of The Overlander alongside information about upcoming community programs. Visitors learned about the Depression and Anxiety Recovery Program, the Mums at the Table group, the Men’s Shed Group, and the exciting Christmas Market planned for late November.
Father’s Day Festival Atmosphere
The event truly captured the Father’s Day spirit with classic cars and trucks drawing admirers, a bouncing castle keeping kids entertained, face painting adding colourful fun, and a sausage sizzle providing hearty food and refreshments. The perfect recipe for a successful family day out!
Sharing the Journey
Kevin’s morning talk about our travels proved popular, with attendees eager to ask questions about the adventure. These storytelling sessions always highlight how our journey resonates with people from all walks of life.
Onwards to the Next Adventure
After packing up at 2:00 pm, we transported the Bubsie trailer to Gold Coast Christian College for tomorrow’s display. A quick fuel stop in Springwood to collect the vans, then we headed south across the Queensland-NSW border to Chinderah, our base for the upcoming week.
Another successful community event in the books – onwards to the next chapter!
