Morning Preparations and a Warm Welcome
What a morning it was! While Pieter and Veronica tackled the washing, Kevin and Glenda were off on their own adventure—getting a shiny new tyre fitted and swapping out the damaged rim on their caravan. Then came the exciting part—we met David, our fantastic new trailer driver! After a satisfying lunch, we were ready to hit the road to Yackandandah, making a quick fuel stop along the way.

Setting Up Camp
We rolled through the charming streets of Yackandandah and made our way to the property where we’d be parking our caravans. Once everything was set up and sorted, we headed back into town with the trailer in tow, buzzing with anticipation for what was to come.

A Little Weather Never Stopped Us
Finding the hall was easy enough, and we set up right in front of the Library and Council offices. The storm clouds had other plans for the day, rolling through and leaving behind a few light showers. But here’s the thing about passionate people—a little rain wasn’t going to dampen anyone’s spirits!
Around 50 wonderful people showed up, a beautiful mix of community members and folks from other local churches. The turnout warmed our hearts!

Bubsie Takes Centre Stage
Kevin kicked things off with his first talk right beside the car. Picture this: people gathered around, some standing close, others perched on the wall, all captivated by the story unfolding before them.
Then came the invitation everyone was waiting for—finger food and cake in the hall! And not just any cake, mind you. One incredibly talented church member had created a show-stopping Bubsie cake shaped like Australia, complete with an adorable little model car that looked just like our beloved Bubsie. It was almost too beautiful to eat!
Kevin then shared the pictures that brought the whole story to life, and you could see the wonder in everyone’s eyes.

The Magic of Community
The next part was special. We drove Bubsie right to the front of the hall, where one of the church members got to crank her up—what a moment! We carefully lowered the gazebo and tucked it into the trailer as people began arriving for the evening session.
As the temperature dropped outside, Kevin wisely moved the presentation indoors where it was cosy and warm. The audience was treated to the full story, followed by a lively question and answer session.
Another light supper appeared (because there’s always room for more food, right?), and the church generously gifted each family with a copy of “Blazing the Trail” by Amanda Bews—the perfect keepsake for the children.

Saying Goodbye Until Next Time
As the church members began packing up around us, Bubsie was carefully loaded back into the trailer, ready to head to our host’s place for the night. We said our warm goodbyes, hearts full from the incredible hospitality and enthusiasm of the Yackandandah community.
What a day it had been! From tyre changes to cake masterpieces, from weathering storms to warming hearts—this was exactly why we’re on this journey.
Until the next adventure…
