Whitsunday Gold Coffee Display
Weather Conditions and Setup
Following a cold overnight period and heavy morning fog, the team made the short journey to Whitsunday Gold Coffee Café, strategically positioned beside the highway just outside Proserpine. The location provided excellent visibility for passing traffic during the morning display period.
Unique Venue Atmosphere
The café’s distinctive menagerie of caged birds created an engaging acoustic backdrop, with continuous birdsong enhancing the visitor experience. This unusual feature contributed to the welcoming atmosphere that encouraged extended stays and conversations.
Car Enthusiast Engagement
Several members of the local car restoration club made special visits, bringing their own restored vehicles to complement the display. These enthusiasts were particularly engaged with Bubsie’s story and requested additional materials to share with club members who were unable to attend due to work obligations.
Venue Appreciation
The café staff expressed gratitude for the morning’s display, recognising the added attraction it provided for their establishment. The positive venue relationship demonstrated the mutual benefits of these community partnerships.
Morning Success
The combination of unique ambience, enthusiastic visitors, and supportive venue management created an exceptionally pleasant morning experience that effectively advanced the journey’s community engagement objectives.

Woodwark Car Club Display
Strategic Relocation
Following the lunch break, the team departed Proserpine for the afternoon display at Woodwark Car Club, located across the bay from Airlie Beach. This positioning provided access to a different demographic while maintaining regional coverage.
Automotive Heritage Connection
Host Alain created a particularly special atmosphere by displaying his own Citroën of identical vintage alongside Bubsie, despite notable design variations between the models. This pairing provided visitors with valuable comparative insights into the marque’s evolution.
Enthusiast Gathering
The event attracted a diverse mix of participants, including car enthusiasts who arrived in their own vehicles and the general public interested in the automotive displays. The varied attendance demonstrated the broad appeal of classic vehicle presentations.
Hospitality Excellence
Alain provided a comprehensive afternoon tea service, enhancing the social atmosphere and encouraging extended visitor engagement. This level of hospitality contributed significantly to the event’s relaxed and welcoming character.
Successful Transition
Following the event’s natural conclusion, the team departed for Mackay to prepare for the upcoming weekend displays. The afternoon’s positive reception and networking opportunities provided strong momentum for the next phase of regional presentation
