Day Two: The Easiest Setup Ever
Perks of an Overnight Stay
Remember how Bubsie slept over at the outlet? Best decision ever! This morning’s setup was a breeze—just remove the car cover, position the A-frame, and we were ready to roll. No traffic, no loading bay logistics, just smooth sailing from the start.
And just like yesterday, the early birds arrived before the shops even opened, eager to get a glimpse of our vintage beauty.
The Shift System Strikes Again
Building Friendships While Serving
We kept our winning formula from Day One:
But here’s the beautiful bonus—the shift rotation gave Pieter and Veronica quality time to get to know Noel better. Sometimes the best part of ministry isn’t just the outreach—it’s the relationships we build within our own team!
A Different Kind of Busy
At first glance, the stats might seem underwhelming: about 60 books given out compared to yesterday’s 100. But wait—there’s more to this story!
Today felt busier because it was busier—in all the right ways. People were stopping. They were staying. They were engaging in, meaningful conversations.
Quality trumped quantity, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
A Special Visitor
Mid-afternoon brought a delightful surprise when Pastor Ben dropped by to see how we were doing. There’s something encouraging about having your pastor check in while you’re in the field!
The Grand Exit (And a Weather Reality Check!)
4 PM: Time to Say Goodbye
As the clock struck 4, we began our packing routine. Bubsie was carefully pushed to the loading bay area, where our friendly security guard not only led us out but also stayed to capture the moment on camera.
Pieter worked his magic cranking the car to life, Kevin expertly drove her onto the trailer, and then—
WHOA. What happened out here?!
Welcome to Canberra Winter!
Stepping outside was like entering a different world. Rain. Cold. The temperature had absolutely plummeted. Suddenly, our cozy indoor display location seemed like divine providence!
The afternoon only got wetter and colder as we made our way to the caravan park. The temperature kept dropping, and reality set in fast.
Emergency Mission: Noel made a brave expedition to find warmer clothes because tonight was going to be freezing.
The Silver Lining
While we’re layering up and bracing for a cold night, we can’t help but feel grateful. Two days at the outlet meant two days sheltered from Canberra’s unpredictable weather, two days of meaningful conversations, and two days of watching Bubsie work her magic on curious shoppers.
Day Two Highlights:
~ Easiest setup ever (thanks, overnight parking!)
~ Deeper, longer conversations with visitors
~ Team bonding during shift rotations
~ Security guard turned photographer
~ Discovered just how cold Canberra can get!
~60 books in wonderful hands
What a meaningful day! Blessed beyond imagination.
