Surprise Display | Canberra NSW

Wednesday: 5 November

Today We Weren’t “On Display”, But Ended Up Being On Display. What a blessing!
Behind the Scenes:
Today was all about the work that makes it all possible. Glenda and Kevin spent most of the day on their phones and computers, juggling:
~ Confirming onward bookings
~ Answering enquiries
~ Coordinating upcoming events
~Managing the logistics

Then Came THE Email…
“I Missed You at the Outlet!”
Mid-afternoon, an email popped up from the TIJ office. A lady had gone to the Canberra Outlet yesterday specifically to see Bubsie—and we’d already left! She was disappointed, and that message tugged at our hearts.

Glenda to the Rescue!
The Caravan Park Private Viewing
Without missing a beat, Glenda fired off an email with a creative solution: “Why don’t you come see Bubsie at the Canberra Showground Caravan Park after work today?”
The response? A phone call bursting with excitement! They quickly arranged a time, and suddenly our “day off” had a VIP appointment on the calendar.

When One Visitor Becomes a Show
Kevin Rolls Out the Red Carpet
Kevin didn’t just have Bubsie ready—he had her out of the trailer and gleaming when the lady arrived. But here’s where it gets even better:
Three campers spotted the commotion and wandered over to see what was happening
Children gathered, eyes wide with wonder
Kevin gave the lady a ride in the car. The caravan park spontaneously became our venue, and an intimate “private viewing” turned into a mini-event!

Third Time’s the Charm
A Story of Persistence and Perfect Timing
This lady’s dedication was impressive. Her Bubsie journey went like this:
1️⃣ Melbourne: Attended the Lunch with Gary event, but Bubsie left quickly for another evening commitment. Missed.
2️⃣ Canberra Outlet: Made the trip yesterday. We’d already packed up. Missed again.
3️⃣ Caravan Park: FINALLY! Success!
She left absolutely thrilled, clutching “The Overlander” and “God’s Rescue Plan”—books she’d been hoping to get for weeks. Her persistence paid off, and we were honored to make it happen.

Meanwhile, the Rest of the Team…
Recharge Mode Activated
While Kevin and Glenda handled the surprise visit, the rest of our crew seized the opportunity for some much-needed downtime:
~ Cleaning (because someone’s got to keep things tidy!)
~ Shopping (restocking supplies)
~ Reading (mental rejuvenation)
~ Cooking (real meals, not just road snacks!)
~ Getting haircuts (looking sharp for the next leg)
~ Sight-seeing (exploring Canberra’s treasures)

Tomorrow: Back on the Road!
Next Stop: Down the Hume Highway
We’re rested, organized, re-energized, and ready to roll. Tomorrow we head down the Hume.
Today taught us something beautiful: even on our “days off,” ministry happens.

The Lesson:
Never underestimate the power of flexibility and saying “yes” to unexpected opportunities. That disappointed email turned into one lady’s dream come true and an impromptu show for curious campers and delighted children!

Ministry doesn’t follow a schedule—it follows the heart!
