Travel and Filming: Fitzroy Crossing to Hall’s Creek, then Doon Doon Station

Morning Filming at Fitzroy Crossing

The day began with the team planning to visit the old Fitzroy Crossing, but they discovered that the road was closed. Instead, they crossed the new bridge in search of a suitable filming location. Upon their return, Bubsie was taken out of the trailer, and Glenda joined Roger in the car while Warren, Kevin, Pieter, and Veronica drove in one of the other vehicles. They conducted several runs across the bridge and captured footage of Bubsie navigating the river.

Exploring Fitzroy River Lodge

After filming, the team returned to the Fitzroy River Lodge property, where they followed a track behind the motel along the riverbank. They took still pictures of Bubsie by the water before displaying the car briefly outside the Lodge. Once finished, they loaded up and set off for Hall’s Creek.

Lunch and Scenic Drive to Hall’s Creek

Upon arriving in Hall’s Creek, Roger captured a photo of the Moola Boola Station sign. The team refuelled and took a few shots on the road leading to Wave Hill Station, enjoying lunch under the shade of May’s motorhome awning.

Wildlife and Scenic Views

As they continued their journey north, the team appreciated the stunning scenery along the road, which included various wildlife. They encountered cattle, brumbies, kangaroos, a dingo, and numerous birds, many of which were reluctant to leave their meals on the road. The majestic rocky outcrops of the Durack Ranges and the Carr Boyd Range added to the beauty of the landscape.

Arrival at Doon Doon Station

The team arrived at Doon Doon Station camping ground just before sunset, where they set up their vans and established an internet connection. After enjoying their evening meals, they made plans for the following day. The day concluded with the team uploading the day’s filming, writing blog posts, and responding to emails and messages that had accumulated during the day without coverage.
