Monday: 7 April 2:30pm – 4pm
Community display with the Arrows Home Schoolers – Warragul VIC
On Monday, we had no scheduled activities. The previous evening, Glen had visited his relatives in Warragul and decided to stay overnight, which was fortunate as heavy rain fell throughout the night, making camping conditions unpleasant.
We had also received an invitation to have breakfast with some friends, Adam and Soraya Selent, whom Kevin had married 18 years ago. We enjoyed a leisurely morning with them, catching up on the events of the past years and sharing a delightful meal together. During the visit, Kevin took the Selent children to the caravan park to meet Glen and see the car, as they had not had the opportunity to sit in it during the previous school event.
After departing the Selent residence around midday, we went into Warragul to handle some banking and have lunch. We then retrieved the car and trailer and took Bubsie to the Goods Shed at the Warragul train station, where we decided to position the vehicle on the platform to keep it out of the rain. This required some maneuvering to navigate the ramps and avoid the wind.
Once the setup was complete, the event organiser, Elise, arrived and prepared the space, including setting out chairs and informational materials. A small group of families, including mothers, fathers, and children, gathered to listen as Kevin presented the vehicle’s story. After the presentation, the attendees could view Bubsie and take photographs, and the children received colouring sheets.
Elise expressed her gratitude by presenting us with a lovely card and a jar of beautiful dahlias. We were also pleased to reconnect with Soraya’s brother, Jose Flores De La O, and his wife, Aleicia, whom Kevin had previously married when we lived in Tasmania.
After the event, we packed up the supplies, retrieved our van from the Selent residence, and made our way to Heritage College in Narre Warren, where we had arranged to stay for the week. Michael Mohanu met us there and provided the necessary keys and access codes, allowing us to settle in for the evening. We enjoyed a meal of rice with a sweet and sour vegetable topping before retiring for the night
