School visitation | Auburn NSW
Once again, we headed off early to our day’s destination as we needed to cross some busy suburbs and be at the school before too many children had arrived to unload Bubsie and get off the main road with our trailer van. We did find that we were travelling a bit slower due to the morning traffic, so we arrived a little later than we had planned, but we still had plenty of time to set up.
The Auburn School does not have much land for play areas, but they made a space for us to display Bubsie and leave the trailer in the driveway and part of the play area. They had a very interesting start to the week at the school, as the day before, they had the big red Tutankhamun display bus, where the children enjoyed learning all about archaeology.
The chapel time at the beginning of school was very energetic, and the children leading out with the icebreaker quiz did a great job with questions that made the children decide on options they liked, which led nicely into the presentation by Pr Kevin on Bubsie and the choices Nevill had to make for his journey.
Following chapel, the class groups came throughout the morning to view Bubsie and ask more questions. The car was displayed next to an undercover area so that the children could be out of the sun when they came to see the car and where the team could sit at the tables between display times. Most of the classes had seen the car by lunch time and the team ate their lunch and spent the afternoon on ringing future event coordinators to make sure things were in place for the next two weeks. One of the team also had an online meeting for the afternoon.
We stayed at the school for the day as a parent program was planned for the evening at 6 pm when parents could come with their children to view the car and take pictures inside the car. The program was also planned with a light meal as people arrived and also provided the opportunity for those keeping Ramadan to eat at the end of the day as they listened to the story of Bubsie by Pr Kevin. Pr Gary Webster presented a talk with a PowerPoint on the reliability of biblical prophecy and the inspiration that had given Nevill to go on the journey.
35 people came to the evening program, with many parents who do not share our Christian faith and were very interested in the material presented during the evening. A Prophetic program commences on Saturday afternoon at the school, and those in attendance were given “The Overlander” book and “God’s Rescue Plan” with a brochure for the coming program. Parents indicated an interest in attending the Prophetica program, featuring three speakers throughout the event: Pr Gary Webster, Pr Gary Kent, and Pr Robbie Berghan.
We loaded Bubsie into the trailer and made our way across Sydney again to our base in Galston. We were happy to connect with the principal, Trevor Blake and the rest of the staff throughout the day. Their dedication to their work with so many different ethnic groups to work with and the way the school community works together was inspiring. Thank you for the tasteful evening meal that was prepared for the program participants and your passion for sharing Jesus with others. It had been a very full day, but one that made our hearts glad to see how God works through the simple story of a little car.
