Right Around Australia – Newman Community Day
Caravan Park to Church
After relocating our vans to a new site within the caravan park, we made our way to Newman House, the local meeting place for the Newman church community.
Immediate Interest at Newman House
The moment we arrived with Bubsie positioned at the front of the venue, curious passersby began stopping to take a closer look. We attracted a wonderful mix of tourists and locals, all intrigued by our distinctive little car and the story behind our journey.
Our team efficiently rotated between engaging with the church congregation and staying with Bubsie to share our adventure with the steady flow of visitors. The constant stream of interested people kept us pleasantly busy throughout the morning.
Sharing Our Story
Inside the church, Kevin captivated the congregation with tales of our current journey before sharing the original inspiring story of Nevill Westwood. Following the service, we joined the church members for a combined lunch, which provided wonderful opportunities for deeper conversations and connections.
Tourist Information Centre Display
At 2 pm, we relocated to the Tourist Information Centre on Newman Drive. While interest started modestly, it soon built into a steady stream of visitors eager to learn about Bubsie and our adventures.
Radio Interview
At 4 pm, Roger, Kevin, and Warren headed off to a pre-arranged appointment with the local community radio station for an interview, sharing our story with the broader Newman community through the airwaves.
Continued Engagement
During the radio interview, the remaining team members maintained excellent engagement with visitors at the Tourist Information Centre. People were particularly interested in hearing about our journey, the car itself, and our YouTube series “The Record Breakers,” which documents our travels.
Evening Fellowship
We concluded our day by loading Bubsie into the van and heading to Marcin and Agnieszka Makowski’s home for a delightful evening meal and wonderful fellowship together.
Community Connections
Our time in Newman has been truly enriching. Meeting so many warm and welcoming locals has been a blessing for our team, and we sincerely hope that sharing our story has brought encouragement and inspiration to the Newman community as well.
