Travel Day: Ceduna to Wilmington – Halfway Across Our Sunburnt Country
A Milestone Moment in Kimba
What a wonderful feeling it was to reach the halfway point across Australia this morning in Kimba! We paused for a moment to let it really sink in – we’ve come so far in just three days. Looking back at the miles we’ve covered together fills our hearts with such joy.
Restocking and Reconnecting at Port Augusta
Port Augusta welcomed us with open arms for a fuel stop and a chance to gather fresh fruit and vegetables.
Along the way, we’ve had the most delightful encounters with fellow travelers. Each time we share one of our Overlander books, we’re met with such warm smiles and genuine interest. It’s like planting little seeds all across this vast land of ours.
A Peaceful Haven in Wilmington
Tonight we’re nestled in the most charming bush caravan park here in Wilmington. Yes, the landscape is parched and thirsty at this time of year, but there’s a rugged beauty to it that captures our hearts. The gum trees stand tall and graceful, offering us their generous shade like old friends welcoming us home.
We’ve spent this gentle evening doing something we rarely have time for – just being still. Catching up on a bit of admin, yes, but mostly just relaxing in the dappled light beneath those beautiful eucalypts, listening to the birds settling in for the night, and letting the peace wash over us.
Grateful Hearts
As we sit here in the cooling evening air, we find ourselves overflowing with thankfulness to God for His faithful protection and countless blessings throughout this incredible journey. To travel safely across this magnificent country we call home – what a precious gift! Our hearts are full.
Sleep well from Wilmington!
