Tweed Valley Adventist College: Multi-Generational Fascination
Starting with Purpose
Our day began with team prayer before heading to the school, where Bubsie had spent the night safely parked. While Glenda tackled administrative work back at camp, the rest of us prepared for a multi-age school presentation.
Chapel Time with Year 9 Leadership
After signing in and setting up, we met Michael Cohen, the school chaplain, and Kevin prepared for his presentation. The Year 9 class took charge of leading chapel, then turned the tables with personal questions for Kevin as an engaging introduction. Kevin responded by sharing the inspiring story of Nevill, Greg, and Bubsie’s remarkable journey.
Resource Sharing and QR Connections
As students filed out for lunch, many grabbed copies of The Overlander, while those who lingered for deeper conversations received QR codes for the Record Breakers content. Modern technology meeting vintage storytelling!
Primary and Kindy Engagement
The Primary School’s chapel session brought fresh energy, and during their gathering, the Kindy children received their own special story time from Veronica, who tailored Bubsie’s tale perfectly for little ears and big imaginations.
Hands-On Discovery Time
Post-chapel brought the best part – classes taking turns to examine Bubsie’s fascinating vintage features. Students were amazed by details like the manual windscreen wipers and the distinctive boat tail boot design. These tactile learning moments always generate the most excitement.
Chaplain’s Joy Ride
Michael enjoyed the VIP treatment with a ride in Bubsie as we prepared to load her back onto the trailer. Having Rod and Karen Pitt working alongside us again adds such valuable experience and familiar teamwork to these school visits.
Planning Ahead
We concluded the morning with prayer before returning to base, then spent the late afternoon in team meetings, coordinating roles and segments for Saturday morning’s program. Proper preparation ensures smooth execution!
Another successful multi-generational school visit, from curious Kindy kids to thoughtful Year 9 students – Bubsie continues to bridge age gaps and spark imaginations.
