A Joyful Reunion — 18 Years in the Making
There was a lovely sense of déjà vu as we made the familiar drive from Devonport across to Ulverstone for the morning worship services at Ulverstone Seventh-day Adventist Church. It has been 18 years since we called Tasmania home, and we were genuinely excited about the prospect of reconnecting with so many dear friends from that chapter of our lives.

Bubsie Draws a Crowd — Even Before Church!
We had barely begun unloading Bubsie from the trailer when a couple walking their dog paused to watch with curiosity. Glenda seized the moment, heading over with a booklet in hand — and what followed was a lovely, warm conversation. They were absolutely delighted to meet Bubsie and hear the story. It was a beautiful reminder that the outreach begins long before the doors open!
Once Bubsie was out, we set up her display right outside the church entrance and positioned the trailer down the driveway where it could be clearly spotted from the road — a little beacon for passersby.

Old Friends, New Friends, and Full Hearts
As people began arriving for the morning services, the atmosphere was wonderfully warm. There were hugs and handshakes with familiar faces, and the pleasure of being introduced to new ones. We led out in the main service following the praise time, sharing stories and reflections from the past year — drawing on the incredible impact of a story that stretches back 100 years, yet still feels so alive and relevant today.
After the service, people were able to browse and take home resources for sharing with their own communities — always one of our favourite moments, watching the story continue to travel beyond our hands.

A Sunny Afternoon at Fairway Park
After a lovely picnic lunch in the park, it was time for Bubsie to stretch her legs again! Kevin took her for a drive through Fairway Park before parking her alongside the walkway near the children’s playground — a perfect spot to catch the afternoon foot traffic.

Booklets, Waves, and a Little Drive
It wasn’t long before a steady stream of curious visitors came by to learn about Bubsie and pick up a booklet. Kevin even took her out for a second little drive — and when he returned on foot, he retraced his route to find the people who had waved to him from the roadside, making sure they didn’t miss out on a booklet! It’s that kind of creative, joyful initiative that makes these outreach moments so memorable.

A Good Afternoon, Well Spent
By 5 pm we packed up and made the familiar drive back to our Devonport base, tired but deeply encouraged. The afternoon had been filled with genuine connection — conversations that mattered, smiles shared with strangers who quickly felt like friends, and the quiet joy of knowing the story was continuing to find its way into people’s hands and hearts. 🙏
