Picking Up Bubsie — Good as New!
We were up and on the road just after 8 am, heading back to Sheffield to collect Bubsie from the workshop. And what a relief it was to see her all fixed and ready to go! We’re so grateful to the team at Sheffield Mechanics and Tyres (SMT), and a special thank you to our friend Dean for his invaluable assistance in getting everything sorted. With Bubsie safely loaded back onto the trailer, we pointed ourselves toward Ulverstone with a thankful heart.

Setting Up in Ulverstone
The wonderful folk at the ADRA Shop had kindly reserved a parking space for Bubsie right out front — such a thoughtful and welcoming gesture! While Glenda got the display up and running, Kevin headed off to park the car and trailer. It didn’t take long before the foot traffic began, and from the very start, people were drawn in — stopping to chat, ask questions, and pick up a copy of The Overlander booklet.

A Town That Felt the Love
One of the most encouraging things we heard throughout the day was just how much it meant to people that Tasmania had been included in the anniversary event. There was a real sense of joy and pride that their island home was part of the story — and it made every conversation feel even more meaningful. The interest was so strong that we had to make a couple of trips back to the car to restock our resources, as several of our other books flew out the door faster than expected!

A Full and Fruitful Afternoon
We took turns ducking away for lunch, but the momentum never really let up. People kept coming right through until our pack-up time at 3 pm. Kevin was quietly delighted to be behind Bubsie’s wheel again — running smoothly as he drove her around the city block to reload her into the trailer in the carpark behind the shop. You could tell he’d missed her!

What a Day to be Grateful For
By the time we wrapped up, we were tired in the best possible way. It had been a full and fruitful day — rich with fascinating conversations, the joy of meeting new friends, and the privilege of spending time alongside the busy and dedicated staff at the ADRA Op Shop. What an amazing gift today had been.
