Right Around Australia rolls into Narembeen

Visit to the Men’s Shed
After a lovely stay and an early breakfast, we headed off to Narembeen. Our first stop was the men’s shed, where a few people were waiting for us. The numbers soon grew to about 40, and Warren gave a talk and answered questions. The people had come from surrounding farms and in town to see Bubsie.

Abundant Morning Tea
The ladies supplied an abundance of morning tea for the attendees.

Surprise Addition to the Display
Mal Willis surprised us and brought his Rugby Tourer to add to the display.

Changing Weather Conditions
By 11 AM, the weather deteriorated, becoming windy with a little rain. The crowd soon dispersed, and we loaded Bubsie while we determined how to display at the next venue out of the rain.

Adapting to the Weather in Narembeen

Displaying Bubsie Under Cover
The rain did not stop, so the Narembeen Aged Care found a covered area to display Bubsie.

Engaging the Residents
We went into the day room, and Warren told the 12 residents and staff the Bubsie story. The residents asked questions and then ventured outside to see the car, which prompted more questions.

Delighting the Centenarian
Iris, a resident turning 100 in the next week, was delighted to get up close to Bubsie. Another resident who mostly remains in his room came out and was very interested in learning about the mechanics of the car.

Residents’ Enjoyment of the Display
The residents enjoyed seeing the various aspects of the car, especially starting it with the crank handle.

Wednesday: 18 June, continued

Engaging with the Narembeen Primary School

Adapting to the Weather
When we arrived at our third event for the day, it was still raining. The Narembeen Primary School provided a large covered area for the display.

Welcoming the Students
The students, from preschool to year 12, all came and were seated in classes, totalling 160 students.

Distributing the Bubsie Story Booklet
The older children also wanted the booklet telling the story of Bubsie.

Interactive Presentation
The students had lots of questions, and Mal’s Rugby Tourer was a hit, with the whole preschool class able to fit in the back seat, much to the delight of the students.

Farewell from the School
The deputy school captain proposed a vote of thanks to the team, and the students bid us an excited farewell.

Visiting the York Motor Museum

Following a Lead
Following a lead we had been given, we stopped at the York Motor Museum on our way back to Perth.

Accommodating the Team
The manager was keen to see Bubsie, so he stayed open past the 4 PM closing time and called his colleagues when we arrived.

Sharing Bubsie’s Story
We unloaded Bubsie and drove to a position near the museum. Although it was the end of the day and not many people were around, we still managed to share the Bubsie story with around 20 people.

Guided Tour of the Museum
After answering questions about Bubsie, the manager invited us for a guided tour through the museum, where we saw many unique cars and vehicles around the same vintage as Bubsie.

Returning to the Vans and a Warm Meal
Leaving York at 5:30 PM, we travelled back to our vans and enjoyed a lovely meal prepared by Glenda.
