Right Around Australia – School Visit Adventure

Early Start for Young Audiences
We began our day bright and early, arriving at the school just as the children were gathering. There’s something special about sharing Bubsie’s story with young people, and we wanted to ensure we were prepared for their enthusiasm.

Primary School Assembly
The morning kicked off with a Primary School Assembly at 8:50 am, setting the stage for an exciting day of discovery. Following the assembly, different class groups took turns gathering around Bubsie for their up-close encounter with automotive history.

Engaging the Younger Students
Kevin captivated the children with Bubsie’s remarkable story, while Veronica and Glenda worked their magic to make the experience especially engaging for the younger students. The children’s faces lit up with delight when they heard the motor spring to life, and their amazement was evident when they watched the car being started using the traditional crank handle. Their thoughtful questions showed they were genuinely trying to grasp just how old this remarkable little vehicle really is.

Secondary School Presentation
At 11:15 am, Kevin took centre stage again for the Secondary School Assembly, followed by organised class visits to see Bubsie. The school captains were honoured with the special privilege of actually sitting inside the car – a moment that made their day memorable.

Patience for Education
Some students were in the middle of their exams, so we patiently waited until after 1 pm for them to finish. Education comes first, and we were happy to accommodate their academic schedule.

A Special One-on-One Moment
One young student was particularly eager to see the car and nearly missed his opportunity due to the exam timing. Recognising his genuine interest, Kevin made the extra effort to bring the car out of the trailer, and Warren provided him with a detailed, personal explanation of how Bubsie operates. The boy’s fascination and engagement made every minute of extra effort worthwhile – moments like these remind us why we do what we do.

Perfect Weather, Perfect Day
We couldn’t have asked for better conditions, spending a lovely sunny day at the school. Days like these, filled with curious young minds and genuine enthusiasm for history and mechanics, are what make the Right Around Australia project so rewarding. It’s wonderful to see the next generation connecting with the craftsmanship and ingenuity of earlier times
