Right Around Australia – Southern Hills Christian College Visit
A Warm Welcome
Another early morning start led us to Southern Hills Christian College, where we received an enthusiastic welcome from Principal Brett Costin. His excitement about having Bubsie at the school was infectious and set the perfect tone for our visit.
A Special Connection
This particular school visit was extra special, arranged through Warren’s nephew, who had spoken to the school about our project. It’s wonderful how personal connections help spread the word about Bubsie’s journey and create these unexpected opportunities to share our story.
Multi-Level Presentations
Kevin kicked off the day by sharing Bubsie’s remarkable story with the Grade 7 and 8 students during assembly. The enthusiasm was so evident that he was invited to continue with an extended presentation to the senior students in classes 10, 11, and 12 – a group of about 50 eager listeners.
Rotating Displays for Younger Students
While Kevin was engaging the older students, the younger class groups took turns rotating through the Bubsie display area. Veronica and Glenda worked their magic with the smaller children, bringing the story to life in ways that captured their imagination. Warren added excitement by demonstrating the traditional crank-handle start-up, always a crowd-pleaser that never fails to amaze.
Technical Discussions
Some of the older boys showed particular interest in the mechanical aspects of the car, and Warren was delighted to dive into the technical details with them. These deeper conversations about engineering and automotive history are always rewarding, especially when you can see genuine curiosity sparking in young minds.
Educational Resources
Teachers and parents were pleased to receive our information booklets, which provide additional details about Bubsie’s story and restoration. Having these resources means the learning can continue long after our visit ends.
Weather Adds Character
The morning brought intermittent rain showers that had us seeking shelter from time to time, but even the weather couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the students or our team. Sometimes these little challenges just add to the adventure and create more memorable moments.

Days like these remind us how meaningful personal connections can be in expanding Bubsie’s reach. From Warren’s nephew’s initial conversation to the Principal’s warm welcome, it’s the human network that makes these special visits possible and worthwhile.

Right Around Australia – Victoria Park Christian School Visit
Perfect Timing
We made our way to Victoria Park Christian School with time to spare, allowing us to enjoy our lunch before checking in and finding the ideal spot to display Bubsie. Sometimes these little breathing spaces make all the difference in having a relaxed and successful visit.
Indoor Sanctuary
We were able to drive Bubsie directly into the school hall, which turned out to be perfect timing as the rain began falling once again. Having an indoor venue was such a relief, and we were truly grateful for the shelter. The thoughtful staff made us feel even more welcome by inviting us to their staff room for a much-appreciated hot drink.
An Impressive Gathering
What a sight it was to see 110 students, along with their teachers, parents, and special visitors, all gathered around Bubsie in the hall! Kevin presented the story with the help of a PowerPoint presentation, bringing the visual elements together beautifully with the live display.
Technical Explanation Made Simple
Warren followed up by explaining the restoration process and how the car operates, keeping his explanation accessible for the young audience. His ability to break down complex mechanical concepts into understandable terms always impresses both students and adults.
The Moment of Wonder
As always, there was that wonderful sound of collective amazement when the car roared to life using the traditional crank handle. It’s a moment that never gets old, and seeing the children’s faces light up with wonder makes every demonstration worthwhile.

The students’ numerous questions clearly showed how attentively they had listened to the presentation. Their curiosity and engagement are always the best indicators of a successful school visit.

After the students returned to their classes, several adult visitors who had specifically come for the display lingered to chat with Warren about the car. These deeper conversations with fellow enthusiasts and curious adults always provide a nice complement to the educational presentations.
